Installing Debian 5

In this video tutorial I will show you how to install Debian 5.0 aka Lenny from netinst CD. Debian is a rock solid distribution whose philosophy is true free software. Lenny is the latest stable version available for download from www.debian.org. First download the netinst CD from Debian official site and then burn it to a CD. Press alt-shift-+ if the explanations in the video are difficult to read

How to instruct the installer to show information on a console while installing packages?
(Both when installing the base system and later when running tasksel)

A number of consoles are available during installation. you can get to them by pressing ALT+F2 … F4 keys. I think the one you are interested in is ALT+F4 . BTW, you can also do tail -f /var/log/syslog while the packages are being installed.

    Hope this helps.
